Youth Champions: Westport U13 girls team captures South Coast league title

WESTPORT — The Westport United Girls Soccer U13 team is champion once again

Westport's United Youth Soccer girls team recently won the seventh grade division for the 2024 South Coast Soccer League Division 1 after beating Sandwich, 7-3, in Fairhaven.

It was their fourth SCSL championship and they will attend the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions for the third straight year, starting on June 21-23 at Progin Park in Lancaster.

Three years ago, the same team as a fifth-grade team went to the state tournament to represent Westport for the first time in 23 years.  The group of fifth, sixth and seventh grade girls continue to bring recognition to the Westport United Youth Soccer Program.

Westport, which finished the regular season at 7-1, currently holds the following SCSL titles:

• 2021 - Southcoast Soccer League Division 2 Champions — Fall 2021 Season
• 2022 - Southcoast Soccer League Division 1 Champions — Spring 2022 Season
• 2022- Southcoast Soccer League Division 1 Champions — Fall 2022 Season
• 2024 - Southcoast Soccer League Division 1 Champions — Spring 2024 Season

The 2024 SCSL Division 1 champs are coached by Justin Gendreau along with assistant coaches Keith Nickelson and Paul Krzyston, Jr.

Members of the Westport United U13 team include Ella Camara, Maddison Wenson, Alivia Wenson, Lily Veracka, Bailey Hart, Sophia Nickelson, Margaret Twomey, Lily Cipollini, Ella Pereira, Isabella Krzyston, Autymn Pereira, Peyton Gendreau, Mallory Crocker, Kim Mello, Sofia Babb and Harper Thibodeau.
