- No replacement date announced
- New Nexus phone, Android tablet had been expected
With Hurricane Sandy on a possible course to slam the Northeast early in the week, Google is canceling an Android-related press event that had been scheduled for Monday morning in New York City. Among the possible devices Google was expected to unveil at the event: a new Nexus smartphone (made by LG Electronics) and a new 10-inch Android tablet, made by Samsung.
Google did not announce a replacement date for the event in the email sent out to invitees alerting them of the cancellation. "We will let you know our plans as soon as we know more," the Android Team wrote in the missive, adding that folks should, "stay safe and dry."
The cancellation comes in the aftermath of rival Apple's unveiling of a new 7.9-inch iPad mini, as well as a brand new 9.7-inch iPad model.
