  • Game is available for many mobile platforms
  • More than 80 levels of Star Wars-flavored action

There's been a disturbance in the Force, thanks to the arrival today of Angry Birds Star Wars in an all-out assault on mobile devices and computers.

The game can be found for 99 cents in the iTunes store for iPhone and iPod Touch ($2.99 for iPad), and Android (free and $2.99 versions), the Kindle Fire store ($2.99), as well as online outlets for Macintosh and Windows computers and Windows phones.

The game promises more than 80 levels of Star Wars-flavored pig-toppling action — with special hidden levels devoted to R2-D2 and C-3PO.

The game starts on Luke Skywalker's home planet of Tattooine before moving to the infamous Deathstar, as players launch birds inspired by Star Wars characters.

To celebrate the occasion, publisher Rovio will be giving away prizes all day to those who tweet using the hashtag #AngryBirdsStarWars.

Want to learn more about the creation of the game? Check out the Angry Birds Star Wars Google Hangout, held Wednesday night, but archived on the game's online home page.

With today's launch, Angry Birds continues its flight. Rovio just a few weeks ago launched Bad Piggies, a game starring the grunting green pigs. The game is the top-ranked paid app in the Apple iTunes Store and, in the Android Market, it tops the free apps list.
