What is 'Love and Death' about?

Picture if you will a tight-knit community just outside of Dallas, Texas in the early 1980s. Candy Montgomery (Elizabeth Olsen) is a devout Christian housewife who's just discovered that her husband Pat (Patrick Fugit) is having an affair with her best friend Betty Gore (Lily Rabe). What follows is one of the more grisly tales of American true crime that reveals that glossy suburban life may not be as idyllic as it seems.

This mini-series is based on the true story of Candy Montgomery, who was accused of murdering Betty Gore on June 13, 1980. "Love and Death" premieres Thursday, April 27 with the first three episodes becoming immediately available. HBO Max will air new episodes thereafter every week until the finale on May 25.
