Obama anniversary celebration pushed back

USATODAY
The happy couple back in 1992

Barack and Michelle Obama have a big day tomorrow.

And there's also a presidential debate.

The Obamas were married exactly 20 years ago Wednesday -- on Oct. 3, 1992 -- though they will probably put off a real celebration because the president has a date with Mitt Romney for the debate in Denver.

The first lady, who campaigned for her husband today in Ohio, is likely to be in Denver for the debate.

Oh, the water that has been under the bridge since the Obamas' wedding day.

Remember when singer Sinead O'Connor tore up a picture of the pope during a gig on Saturday Night Live? That happened the night of the Obama marriage.

Barack and Michelle tied the knot -- with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright presiding -- two days after Ross Perot re-entered that year's presidential race, eventually won by Bill Clinton.

Eight days after the Obama wedding, Clinton, Perot and President George H.W. Bush held their first presidential debate in St, Louis.

Who in that St, Louis crowd would have guessed that, a mere 300 miles away, a Chicago lawyer and social worker named Barack Obama was a mere 16 years away from his own election as president of the United States.
