Will Biden's laughs become campaign issue?

Question of the day: Will Joe Biden's facial expressions and gestures become campaign issues?

The Republican Party is certainly trying, promoting a Web video showing some of Biden's greatest smirks in last night's debate with GOP veep candidate Paul Ryan; Republicans says Biden acted disrespectfully toward Ryan and the serious issues facing the nation.

"Vice President Biden is laughing ... are you?" says the GOP. "At the 2012 vice presidential debate, Vice President Biden spent 90 minutes laughing and rolling his eyes to try and distract from his inability to defend the last four years and provide a vision for the next four."

President Obama's team says the GOP video proves that Biden won the debate.

"I think it was appropriate for him to show passion," said Obama campaign manager Jim Messina. "When the other side is spending time talking about facial gestures and laughing, you know they had a bad night."

The GOP tried something similar after a presidential debate 2000, making much of Al Gore's dismissive sighs toward George W. Bush.
