Biden used the word 'Obama' once

Vice President Biden used nearly 7,500 words in last night's debate, but only one of them was "Obama."

To be sure, Biden made many references to the president, but mentions of his actual name came from Republican opponent Paul Ryan and moderator Martha Raddatz, according to an analysis from Politico.

Obama probably didn't mind -- he called Biden after the debate to congratulate him on his performance.

After watching the debate aboard Air Force One during a return trip from Miami, Obama told reporters, "I'm going to make a special point of saying that I thought Joe Biden was terrific tonight. I could not be prouder of him. I thought he made a very strong case. I really think that his passion for making sure that the economy grows for the middle class came through. So I'm very proud of him."

According to Politico's analysis, Biden did not use one of his favorite words -- "literally." He also addressed "Martha" (Raddatz) 17 times and said "friend" 15 times -- mostly in reference to Ryan and Republican nominee Mitt Ryan.

Romney's surname came up 53 times, reports Alex Burns of Politico, as opposed to 30 for Obama.

The timing for each candidate was about even: 41 minutes and 32 seconds for Biden, vs. 40 minutes and 12 seconds for Ryan.

But Ryan used more words, said an NBC analysis: 7,463 to 7,013 for Biden.
