Good morning from The Oval as President Obama embarks on a two-day cross-country campaign blitz, including a chat with Jay Leno.
Obama departs the White House this morning en route to a fairground rally in Davenport, Iowa. Then it's off to another event at a park in Denver.
The president will depart the campaign trail for a trip to Los Angeles and a taping of The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.
Then it's back to the campaign trail in the swing state of Nevada, with a late-night event at Doolittle Park in Las Vegas.
Tomorrow, Obama will wrap up his "America Forward" tour with rallies in three more battleground states: Florida, Virginia and Ohio.
According to the Obama campaign: "The 'America Forward!' tour will crisscross the nation, reaching as many voters as possible about the critical choice in this election -- moving America forward toward an economy built to last with a strong middle class vs. going back to the same policies that crashed our economy in the first place."
In other news:
One issue not mentioned much on the campaign trail: the Supreme Court, as reported by USA TODAY's Richard Wolf.
Obama speaks to an Iowa newspaper -- off the record.
Another issue: the nation's standard of living.
Another Republican is in trouble over comments about rape.
There are reports about a possible truce between Syria and the rebels.
And the United States has a new blueprint for hunting terrorists.
We have a plan for covering Obama's cross-country trip, so please join us throughout the day. Have a good one, and remember -- less than two weeks before Election Day.
