President Obama's campaign has a new women's issue: An Indiana Senate race.

In a new web page, the Obama administration is "counting the hours" in which Republican rival Mitt Romney refuses to take back his endorsement of Indiana GOP candidate Richard Mourdock for his comments about rape.

In a debate this week in Indiana, Mourdock said he opposes abortion in cases of rape: "Even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, it is something that God intended to happen."

The Obama campaign has also produced a video citing Murdouck's statement, and Romney's continued support of him.

"It's another reminder that women can't trust Mitt Romney to stand up for them," said the Obama campaign.

Mourdock, who opposes abortion in all cases, said his words were twisted, and that he knows rape is a crime.

"I said life is precious," Mourdock said at a news conference. "I believe life is precious. I believe rape is a brutal act. It is something that I abhor. That anyone could come away with any meaning other than what I just said is regrettable, and for that I apologize."

Romney, who says abortion should be allowed in cases of rape and incest, criticized Mourdock's comments, but has not withdrawn his support.

"Gov. Romney disagrees with Richard Mourdock, and Mr.Mourdock's comments do not reflect Gov. Romney's views," said spokesperson Andrea Saul. "We disagree on the policy regarding exceptions for rape and incest, but still support him."
