MADISON, Wis. — President Obama has at least one event on his Election Day schedule, and it's one of his campaign traditions: Basketball.
Former White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters that Obama has notified former aide Reggie Love — who played at Duke — to organize a pickup game Tuesday in Chicago.
Obama has almost always played hoops on election days, and now it is a bit of a superstition.
Obama skipped the game on the day of one crucial contest — the 2008 New Hampshire primary.
He wound up losing that one to then-rival Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Obama said he would never repeat that omission — and he won't in this his last race as a politician.
"We made the mistake of not playing basketball once," Gibbs said. "We won't make that mistake again."
