We don't know if this will help Anna Wintour's prospects or not -- but Donald Trump is endorsing her bid for an ambassadorship.

Trump — who has clashed with President Obama on items ranging from birth certificates to China policy — tweeted Wednesday: "I am happy to hear that Pres.Obama is considering giving Anna Wintour @voguemagazine an ambassadorship. She is a winner & really smart!"

News reports say that Wintour — editor in chief of Vogue magazine, a major Obama fundraiser, and inspiration for the book and film The Devil Wears Prada — is a possibility for ambassador to the United Kingdom or France.

White House officials have little to say about the matter.

"I'm not going to engage in speculation about possible personnel announcements," said White House spokesman Jay Carney.

Carney added: "I think that the president, in all of his personnel appointments, looks for talent, wisdom and character in his appointees, and he would do that regardless of the position."
