One of President Obama's top political advisers has a new look.

David Axelrod had his trademark mustache shaved today on MSNBC's Morning Joe, fulfilling a pledge he had made if co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mike Brzezinski raised more than $1 million for epilepsy research (which they did).

"We're cutting it off because there are people who have lost a lot more than a mustache to epilepsy,' Axelrod said.

Axlerod had the 'stache his entire adult life -- "We've gone many, many miles together."

Scarborough and Brzezinski raised more than $1 million for Axelrod's organization -- Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy -- with contributions from such celebrities as George Clooney, Tom Hanks -- and Obama himself.

Even Donald Trump, one of Obama's fiercest critics, gave money, calling in to Morning Joe to say, "this is a good cause."

As for the mustache-less Axelrod, Trump said: "I think he looks great."
