Obama does local TV interviews

USATODAY
President Obama

President Obama is taking his fiscal cliff campaign to the local airwaves on Thursday, sitting for a string of interviews with local television stations.

The list of stations: WPVI in Philadelphia, WLTV Univision, in Miami, WCCO in Minneapolis, and KCRA in Sacramento, Calif.

The local TV interviews are the latest moves in campaign-style efforts by the White House to sell a debt reduction plan that includes higher taxes on the wealthy as well as budget cuts.

The Obama administration and congressional Republicans are negotiating ways to avoid what they call the "fiscal cliff," a series of tax hikes and budget cuts that kick in next year if there is no budget agreement.
