In this April 16 photo, a flag hangs on one of two buildings pushed together near the edge of the massive deadly mudslide that hit the community of Oso, Wash., on March 22.

As he begins a week-long trip to Asia on Tuesday, President Obama will stop off in Washington state to meet victims from last month's mudslide.

Obama will travels to Oso "to view the devastation from the recent mudslide and meet with the families affected by this disaster, as well as first responders and recovery workers," says the White House schedule.

At least 39 people died during the March 22 mudslide, and some people are still missing.

After the Washington state visit, Obama heads to Japan to start the Asia trip that also includes South Korea, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
