Virgin's Richard Branson opens pop-up bar on Wall Street

USATODAY
Virgin Group Chairman Richard Branson will be giving out business advice to select tweeters at Virgin Atlantic's pop-up bar on Wall Street on Oct. 2.

Want to get business advice from British entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson?

If you happen to be near the New York Stock Exchange on Tuesday—and have a Twitter account—you may get your chance.

The founder of the Virgin Group and other entrepreneurs will be offering advice to select tweeters at its pop-up Virgin Atlantic bar in front of the New York Stock Exchange starting at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Virgin Atlantic is calling the event "Conversations in a Cloud," a pop-up business panel.

The bar actually is Virgin Atlantic's newly redesigned Upper Class bar, which normally is located in the aircraft's business class suite in its new Airbus A330's. Virgin calls it the longest bar in the sky. Fittingly, it's adorned with Swarovski crystal curtains.

In order to get face time with Branson, you'll have to follow @VAAintheUSA and explain in 140 characters or less why you deserve an audience with Sir Richard. And don't forget to include the hashtag #CloudConvos.

The winners will get five minutes with each panelist and signed copies of Branson's new book, Like a Virgin: Secrets They Won't Teach You at Business School.

They also will be eligible for other rewards such as even more copies of Branson's book.

"Some of the world's most famous companies were born out of a casual conversation," Chris Rossi, senior vice president at Virgin Atlantic says.

Branson's Boy Wonder

In other Virgin news, Branson now has a new apprentice.

His name is Billy Yeomans and he's 10 years old.

Yeomans, a Chichester, U.K.,resident, was picked from among 600 applicants to become the airline's first Junior Approvals manager. He will be testing out the airline's newly refurbished 747 fleet.

Once Branson's apprentice submits his report on whether the 747 is a good fit for other kids his age, the plane will take more than 650 flights a year to destinations all over the world, including the Caribbean and the USA.
