Customers in Chicago O'Hare's Terminal 3 can get tech help at this Geek Squad 'Precinct' through Dec. 23, 2014.

Traveling with an iPhone that's on the fritz? Or perhaps your laptop has a glitch you'd like to get checked out before the holidays? If so, you're in luck if you've got a daytime flight through Chicago O'Hare's Terminal 3 the week before Christmas.

In a promotion aimed at holiday travelers, Best Buy's Geek Squad experts are headed to O'Hare with free help for fliers in need of tech support. The airport Geek Squad will set up shop from Monday (Dec. 15), offering free help to fliers through Dec. 23. The Geek Squad staff will operate out of a temporary "Precinct" near the Concourse H food court in Terminal 3. Flights from Terminal 3 are mostly on American Airlines and on several of American's partner carriers.

The location will be staffed from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. local time. Additionally, some of the Geek Squad staff will roam out into the concourse to aid gateside fliers in need of tech help.

"One of the most stressful things that can happen to you as traveler is having those inconvenient issues with your mobile phone, tablet or laptop. There's simply nowhere to get help in the moment," Chris Askew, president of Geek Squad Services at Best Buy, says to Today in the Sky about the pre-Christmas promotion. "The idea is that we bring that advice — that guidance — in a very convenient manner to the place you need it most, when you might be stuck in an airport having technology troubles."

The effort is obviously an effort for Best Buy to showcase its Geek Squad services, but why bring the effort to O'Hare?

"O'Hare is one of the busiest airports in the U.S. It's an ideal venue to give the gift of Geek Squad during what is always a hectic and intense holiday travel season," Askew says. "That's the idea behind it — to surprise and delight holiday travelers who may need some advice and guidance. If we can be helpful to people during this period, then we've achieved our objective."
