Sun Country Airlines adding seven new cities, including first flights to Canada
Sun Country Airlines, a growing budget airline that caters to Midwest vacationers and travelers visiting friends and family, is adding several new nonstop flights including its first flights to Canada.
The airline, which offers bargain fares and charges extra for carry-on bags and advance seat assignments, plans to add flights between its Minneapolis hub and seven new cities next spring.
The new destinations, which will boost Sun Country's lineup to 80 airports in the United States, Mexico, Central America, Canada and the Caribbean:
- Vancouver, Canada
- Burlington, Vermont
- Buffalo, New York
- Charleston, South Carolina
- Jacksonville, Florida
- Pittsburgh
- Spokane, Washington

Flights to Charleston and Jacksonville begin in early April, the others in June. Sun Country, like most other budget airlines, will not offer service every day on the new routes. Flights will be offered twice a week, in most cases on Thursdays and Sundays.
The airline is offering introductory one-way fares starting at $69 to $99 for tickets booked on its website.
Sun Country said it is also resuming flights to three destinations from Minneapolis next spring: New Orleans, Milwaukee and Savannah, Georgia.
The airline is not resuming its seasonal flights between Minneapolis and Austin, Texas, and Madison, Wisconsin and Seattle next year.
