Friday's forecast: Stormy Northeast, Southwest

A wet, snowy Friday is forecast for the northeastern U.S. as a separate system brings rain into the Southwest.

East, Midwest: Rain will fall throughout much of the Midwest, eastern Great Lakes, Mid-South, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast on Friday. Snow will fly in the Great Lakes and interior Northeast. Temperatures will be in the cool 30s and 40s in the Midwest and Northeast.

West: Scattered showers and thunderstorms will soak most of the Southwest and southern California on Friday.
