Lassen Peak reflects on Helen Lake at Lassen Volcanic National Park in California.

Californian Bachir Badaoui wanted to explore new places and decided to finally take the trek to Lassen Volcanic National Park.

According to the National Park Service, snow at the park generally begins to accumulate each year in October, doesn't melt in most places until July, and can remain in isolated areas year round. Keeping that in mind, Badaoui made his way to the park in August.

While driving through, he came across Lassen Peak, which reflects on Helen Lake. He couldn't resist taking a photo of the scene.

"It's truly a rewarding experience," Badaoui says.

Equipped with his Nikon D7100 and Nikkor 18-200 mm VRII lens, Badaoui says he captured the image and then used minimal editing. He imported the image to his iPhone and used iPhoto to slightly increase the saturation.

More of Badaoui's work can be found on his contributor profile.
