Methodology
We rated the largest internet providers in the U.S. for 2024. Each provider was rated on a scale of 1 to 5 based on over a dozen factors, including speed, cost, availability, fees, customer satisfaction, connection type and more. We also used data from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to compare the average speed offered by internet companies in the U.S. to set a baseline for what is considered a good internet speed. Additionally, we analyzed data from the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) to understand how each ISP fares in customer service and perceived value.
How we reviewed Astound
Astound earned a high score of 4 out of 5, but that score comes with some caveats. Astound earned high marks for features such as fast speeds, no contracts and no installation or equipment fees. However, after Astound’s two-year promotional period, equipment fees are $14.99/mo. or more if you have a TV bundle. Astound’s standard installation cost is $79.95; however, those fees are typically being waived at the time of publishing.

Internet 300 – Most budget-friendly plan
The cheapest Astound Wi-Fi plan is 300 Mbps for $25/mo., guaranteed for two years with equipment (a modem and router) and installation included. Since most ISPs start around $50/mo., this price guarantee saves you $600 over the first 24 months. This plan is best for households with several connected devices and activities, including web browsing, streaming, email and some gaming.
Internet 940 – Best for ultra-connected homes
If your home has 10–20 devices connected at the same time, choosing Astound’s 1 GB plan is a smart choice. This plan will make it easier to have all your devices online simultaneously without buffering issues. Ensure your connectivity is uninterrupted when working from home or when gaming online in real-time against other players. Astound’s $50 price for this speed is less than most other ISPs’ similar-speed plans, but the price doubles after the promotional period.
Internet 1500 – Best for the fastest speeds
Homes with 20 or more devices can opt for Astound’s 1.5 GB speed for the fastest connection offered by the provider. If online activities in your household consist of concurrent streaming, competitive gaming and several always-on smart devices (like security cameras), this is the plan for you. However, this high-speed internet is not available everywhere.
