Best Time To Mow Your Lawn For Better Looking Grass
Mowing the lawn is a household chore that has to be done, but does it matter when you cut it? It turns out there's a best time for it. "It's better to mow when the canopy, or grass leaves, are dry," says Clint Waltz, turfgrass extension specialist at the University of Georgia. Waltz says around "mid-morning" is the best time to cut your lawn, or even around 5:30 or 6 pm, as the grass is dry. For better mowing, sharpen your mower's blades twice a season so you make cleaner cuts instead of tearing the grass. You should also make sure you're mowing at the proper height to "optimize the the canopy density, root depth and volume." Avoid mowing straight after it's rained, as wet grass is messy, sticks to your mower, and leaves clumps of grass.
