Born to a Samoan father and a European mother, KJ Apa grew up in Auckland, New Zealand, and starred in the country’s long-running primetime soap Shortland Street from 2013 to 2015. He found fame stateside in 2016 when he was cast in The CW’s Riverdale, and his performance in the drama as lead character Archie Andrews has earned him a Saturn Award and multiple Teen Choice Award nominations. Apa has also appeared in the films A Dog’s Purpose, The Hate U Give and The Last Summer.
