James D. Adasek, born May 23, 1942, in Utica, New York, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024, peacefully at his home, where he resided in New York Mills. Jim was the son of the late John S. Adasek and Mary Pavlovich.
He was raised in Utica, New York, and attended local schools – John F. Hughes Elementary School, and graduated from Utica Free Academy High School. He continued his studies at Utica College (University). He taught in the middle schools as a math educator, at House of the Good Shepherd and MVCC, and later as a professor at Utica University. He kept in contact with many of his students, who went on to achieve their goals with successful careers. They all thanked him for his patience and love of teaching.
Utica University, without question, changed his life. He was able to live the life that he was so fortunate to have. Thank you, Utica University. Absolutely 100% true. When he would talk about this he would get teary-eyed.
Jim was blessed with two sons, James (Jimmy) Adasek, Jr., and Robert (Bob) Adasek. He sadly leaves a twin brother and sister-in-law, John S. and Julie Adasek, and his beloved little sister (as he referred to her), Linda (Adasek) Carlo; grandchildren, Cullen and Duncan Adasek, Caitlyn (Adasek) Bajrektarevic (Elvis), and Iona and Nashon Brown; his extended family, Morie, Joe, and Skyler Burke; and a special nephew, Joe Carlo, Jr., with whom he shared football Sundays in his Man Cave (often sharing a cigar). He was blessed with very special friends, Dennis and Gail Geer, Dewey Romangnol, Al Sherline, Mike Spost, Kristyn Helmer, and Esther Leshkevich-Viti. His friends were always there for him, no matter what was going on in their lives. He would always say how lucky he was!
As Jim requested, there will be no calling hours, no services, and no grieving. His only wishes were that you remember him for the life he lived, to enjoy yourself and think of him while you are having fun!
Arrangements are with Wolanin Funeral Home, 266 Main Street, New York Mills.
