FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - David Avelsgard thought he’d fulfilled his lifelong dream when he left a Wheel of Fortune taping with a vacation to Antigua and some additional prize money in his pocket.

Soon after returning home, though, he found that his story wasn’t quite over.

“They said, you were actually supposed to get a trip to Mexico, not Antigua,” he explained.

“So we’ll give you the option of picking the trip you want, and then because of the error we’re inviting you back on the show.”

Was there ever a chance he’d turn them down?

Avelsgard returned to L.A. in January of this year and got to compete for a second time on the show he’s been a fan of for as long as he can remember.

“My parents sat me in front of the TV and we’ve always watched it every single night,” he said. “It’s always been something we’ve bonded over.”

So while the opportunity to get even more of a windfall from Wheel was greatly appreciated, he’s mostly thankful for having such an unprecedented second chance.

“It was just once in a lifetime,” he said.

“Well, in my case, twice in a lifetime.”
