FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - The Red River Valley Fair is liable to grab headlines, with its entertainment options including such luminaries as Blake Shelton. But it’s not the only county fair in the local area.

“Our fair here is a smaller, family friendly fair,” said Board of Directors member James Kruize. “A lot of our grounds are grass, so you’re not walking on asphalt.”

Those grounds include a bevvy of activities, ranging from traditional carnival rides to entertainment like magicians and glass blowing demonstrations. And, of course, the food.

“A big favorite of mine is the Hawley FFA -- they have the malts,” confessed Kruize. “It’s a good variety of malts, and that’s always good especially with the weather like we’re having. But it’s all good food -- you try to sample a little bit different every day.”

Grandstand tickets for events like the tractor pull and demolition derby cost $15 for adults and $5 for children. Otherwise, admission is free.

The fair runs through Sunday in Barnesville.
