Ryan Garcia has issued a public apology after going on an explosive tirade on social media that included racial slurs aimed at Black people and hate speech targeting members of the Islamic community.
During an X Spaces chat, which occurred on Thursday morning (July 4). Garcia declares that he “hates ni**as” and is “anti-Black,” prompting another cohost of the chat to suggest that Garcia join the Ku Klux Klan.
Garcia responds by saying is a member of the KKK and later suggests that police brutality victim George Floyd be brought back to life in order for Garcia and others to murder him again.
While addressing popular content creator Sneako, he then voices his disdain for Muslims that “f**king rape little kids,” describing the religious group as “weird.” Upon being told that he would regret his statements, Garcia doubles down on his sentiments, likening himself to a “God” that has “never been touched in his life.”
On Friday (July 5), Garcia expressed his regret over divisive statements he’d made the day prior, which he claims is not a reflection of his true character. “I take all responsibility for my words,” the boxer wrote on X, pointing to his recent string of controversies and usage of drugs and alchohol as a byproduct of his self-described traumatization.
“I’m misunderstood, I just got a lot of trauma,” Garcia added. “And It’s been a tough couple of months as everyone can tell but I AM SORRY. I struggle with substance abuse and it’s hard for me with everything going on.”

The West Coast native also addressed comments he made regarding his desire to murder George Floyd again and being anti-black, deeming the language he used as “stupid words” while attempting to make amends. “I actually love Black people no cap which is why l’m actually said (sic) I offended all my Black family and friends,” Garcia claimed.
“This sucks but all I can do is be better and stop using stupid words and letting some people in my circle hype me up. Sorry everyone that I offended. I still stand on stopping Black on Black crime And that I hate pedo’s so that will always remain something I stand on.”
Garcia also gave an apology to the Islamic community, attributing his hate speech to being triggered by Sneako’s, who is Islamic, alleged verbal attacks on the sanctity of Christianity. “Also to the Muslim community and all my homies that are Muslims my bad. I let Sneako get in my head from when he talked shit about the Holy Spirit and everyone telling me Christian’s let the disrespect slide,” he said.

The social media star continued, adding, “I love Muslim people I don’t believe yall are pedo’s. I do believe there is pedo’s in every religion bc men and humans are flawed and I don’t stand with non (sic) of that. I’ve always defended gold hearted Muslims and have actually tried to help. My bad 🙁 INSHALLAH. btw that means God willing.”
Garcia’s rant would quickly go viral and garner national attention, with World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaimán disassociating the organization from Garcia and his statements. “Exercising my authority as president of the WBC, I am hereby expelling Ryan Garcia from any activity with our organization,” Sulaiman wrote in a statement.
“We reject any form of discrimination. I fear for Ryan well being as he has declined multiple attempts for our help with mental health and substance abuse.”

In addition, Garcia’s own parents, Lisa and Henry, also distanced themselves from Garcia’s comments, emphatically insisting that his hateful comments are not a reflection of their family values or who Ryan is as a person.
“Our son has recently made statements that do not align with his, or our family’s, true character or beliefs. Our family unequivocally does not support any statements he has made regarding race or religion — these do not reflect who Ryan truly is and how he was raised,” they wrote in a joint statement.
“Those who know Ryan can attest to this fact. Ryan has been open about his ongoing struggle with mental health over the years and as a family we are committed to ensuring and encouraging that he receives the necessary help to navigate this very challenging time and address both his immediate and long-term well-being. We appreciate the continued support, prayers and compassion.”

Garcia also called out the WBC for its seemingly hypocritical reaction to his verbal tirade, pointing to boxing greats such as Mike Tyson and others for using colorful and controversial words and statements during their own careers. The boxer also announced his plans to enter rehab in an effort to “get clean,” but provided no further details regarding his attempts at sobriety.
In addition to being expelled by the WBC, he was previously suspended by the organization after testing positive for performance enhancing drugs following his victory over WBC light welterweight champion Devin Haney this past April. The result of that bout has been ruled a no contest, with Haney’s loss to Garcia being scrubbed from his record, making him undefeated once again.
