Netflix's teen rom-com The Kissing Booth released back in May 2018, and instantly took over social media feeds everywhere. Just about two years later, fans got a mid-lockdown treat when the sequel of the movie, The Kissing Booth 2, came out on July 24, 2020, and officially became one of the streaming platform's most-watched movies. Now, romance junkies have a fresh reason to celebrate: Netflix has announced that a third edition of the franchise is already in the works and will be releasing in 2021.

If you didn't get a chance to watch the second part over the weekend, we suggest you proceed with caution to avoid any major spoilers. The brand new movie shows Elle Evans (Joey King) and Noah Flynn (Jacob Elordi) trying to navigate long distance relationships. While Noah is seen studying at Harvard, Elle and Lee Flynn (Joel Courtney) are getting ready to finish high school. However, things don't go exactly as planned for the couple. Why? Drama walks in in the form of Marco (Taylor Zakhar Perez), the new guy at school. On one hand, audiences see Elle trying to resist Marco's charm, and on the other, sympathise with her jealousy over Noah's gorgeous new friend at college, Chloe (Maisie Richardson). The plot reaches its peak when Elle has to finally make a big decision: will she go to Harvard to be close to Noah, or her dream school, University of California, Berkeley?

Even before the excitement around The Kissing Booth 2 could die down, the teaser of its next leg has already been released, and tells audiences that the 2021 release will pick up exactly where this film left off. #NoahElle fans will have to wait a while to find out which school Elle finally decides on, and how it impacts her relationship with her boyfriend.

“It was the hardest secret to keep,” Joey King said about the movie's third edition in a live YouTube event on Sunday. "We filmed two and three at the exact same time,” Joel Courtney added. The hit franchise, which has won the hearts of millions across the globe and has also been compared to the likes of the Twilight series, is based on Beth Reekles's books. Reports suggest that all of the core cast from The Kissing Booth 2 will return for part three. Joey King will be back to play the lead of Shelly ‘Elle’ Evans alongside Courtney as Elle’s best friend Lee Flynn, and Jacob Elordi as Elle’s boyfriend, Noah Flynn. Also reprising their roles from the first film will be Molly Ringwald (Mrs Flynn), Meganne Young (Rachel) and Bianca Bosch (Olivia). Director Vince Marcello will also be coming back for the third part of the trilogy.

The Kissing Booth 3 is all set to release on Netflix in 2021.
