Last night, the Chicago Film Critics Association awarded Pixar’s Vulture-approved Wall-E its Best Picture prize, following similar honors from critics in Boston and L.A. Sure, regional awards generally don’t mean anything, but this is Wall-E’s third one, plus the CFCA (which counts the venerable Roger Ebert as a member) has accurately predicted the Oscar for Best Picture for the past three years. Can the Academy possibly ignore support like this? Only if they’re jerks!
