Californication’s Tom Kapinos is creating a new half-hour comedy pilot for Showtime, called White Famous, and has cast Stephen Tobolowsky to play a high-powered producer, reports Deadline. This shouldn’t be too hard for Tobolowsky, since he has plenty of experience playing a Hollywood producer: Stu Beggs, for four seasons on Californication. The new series will follow Floyd, a talented, young African-American comedian (Jay Pharoah) who begins to cross over toward becoming “white famous.” It will also be executive-produced by Jamie Foxx. who plays a version of himself on a recurring basis. Tobolowsky was cast in the pilot as a guest star, but he could recur the way he did on Californication. Recently, he’s played Principal Ball on ABC’s The Goldbergs and also has been recurring on HBO’s Silicon Valley.
