As HBO is looking to expand its Westeros-set offerings with Game of Thrones spinoffs, Syfy is following George R.R. Martin into space. The network has ordered a pilot for a series based on Martin’s sci-fi novella Nightflyers, which follows a group of scientists and a telepath on an expedition to the edge of the solar system in search of alien life. The book was previously made into a 1987 movie, but now, Syfy can expand the descent into the madness of space across a much longer period of time.
