Following the release of graphic surveillance video on May 17 showing Sean “Diddy” Combs physically abusing Cassie at a Los Angeles hotel in 2016, the rapper has now apologized. In a video posted to his Instagram, Diddy says, “It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that. I was fucked up — I mean, I hit rock bottom — but I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m disgusted. I was disgusted then when I did it. I’m disgusted now.”

“I went and I sought out professional help,” he continued. “I got into going to therapy, going to rehab. I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry. But I’m committed to be a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m truly sorry.” The brutal footage showed Diddy grabbing Cassie by the back of her neck and slamming her to the ground in the hallway of the hotel, before kicking her and dragging her by her clothing. As she begins to stand up, he then returned, shoving her and throwing an object at her. Diddy had previously denied the allegations made in Cassie’s lawsuit against him in November, which was settled out of court at the time.
