Who’s This Queer Royal on The Traitors?

Much like last season, this season of The Traitors is chock-a-block with reality stars. And also one random British guy. This time, Lord Ivar Mountbatten is the Brit putting on Eyes Wide Shut cosplay. But who is that, exactly?

Even the royalty agnostic may remember Lord Ivar Mountbatten as the first member of the extended royal family to be in a same-sex relationship. He is second cousins with King Charles and a direct descendant of Queen Victoria. He is not, as he is quick to remark, the first gay member of the fam. In the Tatler, Mountbatten confirmed rumors that his grandmother, the Marchioness of Milford Haven, was a lesbian. “The older generation of my family have seen and done it all before,” he said. “They were quite wayward in the 1940s. My aunt Nada [Nadejda Mountbatten, 2nd Marchioness of Milford Haven] was a lesbian. You’ve got to try everything once, that’s what my mother always said.”

The same Tatler profile gives insight that Lord Mountbatten may be shit at gameplay if he’s selected as a Traitor. “The delightful thing about Ivar, he makes his mind up about something and sticks to it,” his husband said. “There’s no game playing, to a degree where you’re almost looking for the catch. He’s so straightforward and remarkably easy to love.” Sounds great overall, but maybe sucks in this context!
