Nearly 400 miles from Liberty County, deputies found Chandler Kuhbander and Raegan Anderson in one of their cars Sunday morning in Cosby, Tennessee. Now, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation leads the investigation to uncover what happened to the two.
The firefighters, who were once high school sweethearts, were last seen in Savannah on June 24.
"I don't believe that the investigation in any way is yielding an idea that whatever happened involved anybody else other than the two that were found," said Chief Tracey Howard with the Hinesville Police Department.
Howard expressed sadness over the loss of two fellow first responders, especially knowing before they were firefighters.

- Kuhbander's parents spoke with WJCL 22 last weeksaying they were desperate for answers
- Also last week, WJCL 22 received a surveillance video clip of Anderson filling up her car at a South Carolina gas station. The video led to more questions about the pair's whereabouts
"Now it's dealing with the loss," Howard said.
"Did you know them personally?" asked WJCL 22 News' AJ Sisson.
"I did. I had only seen Chandler (at first). But, as I was speaking with family members, I remember being around Raegan when she was a young girl," Howard said.
The discovery happened along Hollow Road in Cosby, Tennessee, nearly a one-hour drive east of Pigeon Forge. This also happens to be the last place they were spotted late Monday, June 24.
According to Howard, a person noticed a car along the side of the road and called first responders. The Cocke County Sheriff's Office responded to the call, where they found them dead in Anderson's 2017 black Ford Focus.
"Certainly, when we began the investigation, I did not realize it was her," Howard said. "Sometimes you lose touch with people, and you don't see them for a while, and young people are growing up."
The TBI took over the investigation, but will still work alongside CCSO. Once finished, Hinesville PD will finish theirs.
WJCL reached out to the Liberty County Fire Chief Brian Darby, but has not heard back.
