Joy Elaine Trippett, 77, of Marietta, OH, passed away peacefully at home after a short courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Akron, OH, on December 8, 1946, to the late Ralph L. Trippett and Mary E. Collins Trippett. The family moved to Marietta in 1955.

Joy graduated from Marietta High School in 1964, where she was in the Commercial Course. She started working at AAA while in school and was hired full time upon graduation. She worked there for 13 years, where she became head of the license department. Joy then worked several years at The Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation before starting work at the Ohio Department of Transportation until her retirement in 2011, after 33 dedicated years.

Joy is a beloved sister of Neva B. Sandford, Edythe E. Kuroski, Wanda L. Trippett and the late Shirley L. Trippett and Nancy R. Dye. She was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law C. Lynn Sandford and James (Jim) Kuroski Sr.; nephews Robert Sandford and Ralph Trippett; great niece Nicole Sandford and great-great niece Remi Grahame.

Joy loved deeply and was loved deeply in return. She shared a special bond and love with her five sisters. Joy felt blessed to have such close relationships with all her nieces, nephews, and their spouses, her great and great-great nieces and nephews. She has loyally attended countless sporting events and dance recitals for the past 50+ years and has always been there to celebrate special occasions, usually with her famous chocolate chip cookies! Joy held the same love and compassion for all her family as well as many friends. She will be deeply missed by all.

Our family would like to thank Dr. Lloyd Dennis, Dr. Kelli Cawley, and the staff of Strecker Cancer Center for their loving and compassionate care.

It would be remiss if not shared, as Joy told her family, “Jesus has always gone before me, and I am His Chief Concern.” Joy’s favorite song was Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone).

A celebration of life is being planned, and details will be shared later.
