Angie的5星評語： This is my favorite of all the New Orleans t shirt shops. FG's designs are whimsical and humorous and I love that they have different styles and choices for women's tees (v necks, tank tops). They have styles for men, babies and kids too. Their shirts are high quality, too. I've had a few for 5+ years and they have yet to fade or pill. (Tip-I air dry all of them, so that may have something to do with them still looking new) Fleurty Girl is more that just t shirts though. They carry some great home décor items, great jewelry, kids books, candles, locally made soaps, Saints and LSU gear you won't find anywhere else and even outdoor décor for your lawns. I've picked up some great gifts and have received some great ones from here as well. It's so much fun to browse around in here and this location has no headache parking. XOXO Fleurty Angie -
Angie的5星評語： You guys. Seriously. Can you say fun? Not just your normal everyday yeah, it was fun. We're talking off the charts fun. The Red Dress Run in Nola is one of my favorite things. First of all, all of the money is donated to local charities. That kicks ass. It's sort of reminds me of Mardi Gras minus the floats (not minus beads though..errybody always has beads to throw here) and everyone is in red instead of purple, green and gold. The party starts early (10am) so pace yourself with that free flowing beer. You don't wanted to be schwasted by the time the race starts at noon. It's an easy two mile run but starting at noon in August it's going to be HOT. That's part of the fun, however because articles of red clothing start to get removed by some of the less modest (or maybe they're wasted?) race participants. One year I was behind a guy who had on nothing but a red speedo with the word "Chomper" across his derrière. It was a pretty nice view. =) In addition to all of this there's free wine and wine coolers, yummy catered food, and unlimited beer. This year the entertainment will be provided by Cowboy Mouth and Dash Riprock. Whoo!! Who's coming with me?!! -
Angie的5星評語： Ahh, the Twin Spans. Living in Slidell but traveling to Nola and Metairie and even all the way down to Houma I've crossed this bridge countless times. I love crossing it at sunset. It looks like the sun is slowly sinking into and being swallowed up by Lake Pontchartrain. I love crossing it when the tide is high and watching the pelicans swooping down into the lake to catch their lunch. I love passing it and looking at all the beautiful sailboats on a beautiful sunny day. I love crossing it when the water is rough and choppy and spotting a water funnel. I've seen a few of those and it's a sight to behold. August 2005. I had evacuated to my sister's house in Lafayette. Once the images started playing on the news of the devastation that was happening I was shocked and angry. For a while nothing was being shown of Slidell...only New Orleans. It became clear why in a single image that happened to flash across the screen for a brief second. The Twin Spans. MY Twin Spans. One side of it was in pieces. Parts of it in the lake. Completely impassable. Gone. I was devastated. I cried and cried. I still tear up when I think about it. It's one of the many images of the damage Katrina did forever seared into my memory. I'm sure it sounds silly to be so sentimental about a bridge, but seeing it, a huge majestic bridge, reduced to piles of concrete, solidified in my head that things were never going to be the same when I came home. The Twin Spans have been rebuilt and they are better than ever. It's taller and wider now. The old ones where broken up and dropped into the lake to create an artificial reef. I still love passing it at sunset, high tide, sunny days and when the lake is rough. But I mourn the old ones and will forever have a special place in my heart for them. -
Angie的4星評語： I've run the CCC10k twice in the past few years. Well. Ran/walked and towards the end I was almost crawling and I faintly remember asking a guy who was wearing a dress and had a beer hat (a hat that holds two cans of beer with a straw leading to your mouth...Look Mom! No hands!!) if I could ride in the K&B shopping cart he was pushing. Oh, K&B...I miss you. About a week before the race an expo is held at a local hotel where you pick up your race number and tee shirt and get a bagful of sweet sport swag! Whoo! The race starts in front of the Superdome and through the French Quarter and Garden District. It's a picturesque course and if you tire of the scenery (you won't) there's always something to look at. Remember the man in the dress? Totally normal. Almost all of the participants in are some sort of costume, because that's how we roll in Nola. The post race party is always a great time. Free beer!!! Music and food are provided in addition to the FREE BEER!!!! The earlier you register the better, because the price goes up as race time gets closer. Next year the race is going to be held on April 19, 2014. I'll be the one crawling and crying for my mommy =) -
Angie的4星評語： I la-la-la love PJs coffee. I'm drinking a Mocha Velvet Ice at this very moment. It is so very good. This location has a drive-thru and I like that. A lot. You see, I'm not so much a morning person. So the last thing in the world I want to do in the morning is walk into a coffee shop even though I want the coffee. PJs drive thru? Genius I tell you. Pure genius. I can go to PJs in my pjs!! They also have a nice selection of sandwiches and pastries. I've had a few and they are quite tasty. Oh. And they were founded in Nola. It doesn't get any better than that. -

Angie的5星評語： I had to update my review and give the aquarium 5 stars because I recently visited and was able to experience Parakeet Pointe for the first time. It's a new outdoor exhibit with hundreds of beautiful parakeets and it might be my favorite thing about the aquarium now. My daughter and I purchased bird seed sticks for a few dollars and headed into the exhibit. You just stand there, hold out your stick and one of the parakeets will come to you to eat off of it. It was awesome! I'm not kidding when I say I was just as excited as my little girl was when I had one of the beautifully colored birds land on my stick. So much fun!! The only thing that kind of took some getting used to was occasionally the birds will all "take flight" together at once and it's like that scary old movie "Birds" for a minute lol. You have to go and experience Parakeet Pointe! It is really special! I'm still a wannabe mermaid, but my daughter and I really loved it a lot. -

Well they even inquired about you I went on down to the Audubon Zoo And they all asked for you The monkeys asked The tigers asked And the elephant asked me too -The Meters "They All Ask'd For You" ----------------------------------------------------- The Audubon Zoo is freaking spectacular. It's one of the most beautiful places in New Orleans. It's lush and green and the oak trees...just wow. The oak trees are hundreds of years old, i.e. enourmous, and draped in moss. Soooo pretty. Every time I'm here I feel like a true southern belle and imagine myself as one of those ladies with one one of those fancy fans like they had way back in the day and asking my guests if they need some more sweet tea, darlin'. In addition to the gorgeous setting this is just the best zoo I've ever been to. Would you like to observe a white alligator? A white tiger? We've got you covered there and then some. There's not really that much I can add to all the reviewers before me without my review being redundant, unfortunately. The flamingos ask'd about you, too. Come on down and let them how your mom and dem are doing. -
Angie的5星評語： Awwwww yeahhhhh!!! My boys! I LOVE the New Orleans Saints with a fierce passion. My entire life during football season The Saints were on my television every Sunday. Oh they've been breaking our hearts for years, too. When I was young I remember my dad yelling at them on television and after every game going out into the garage to throw shit...lol. I remember going to games with him in The Dome and him sporting a paper bag over his head. Still...every Sunday of every year during football season was church and then home to watch Saints football. In 2009 I was in a bar in the French Quarter watching the game that turned out to be the most exciting football game I have ever seen. In my entire life. *chills* OMG when Tracy Porter intercepted the Vickings' ball for the tie...that bar starting rocking. Hard. Then the field goal for the win. For a second you could hear a pin drop. In the French Quarter. Then everything just exploded. THE SAINTS ARE GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL. THE MOTHER FUCKING SUPERBOWL!!!! THE SAINTS!! I cannot tell you how many complete strangers I hugged that night. Hundreds. Seriously. I love my boys. Then, now and until the day I die. I eat, sleep and breathe Black and Gold. Angie的5星評語： Do you ever think to yourself, "how stupid was I for (insert stupid thing here)"? I have a few times in my life. So I'm here to tell you why and also hopefully help you from making some mistakes that I've made myself. If you grew up in Louisiana like I did I'm betting there are several cultural things that you just didn't appreciate until you got older. Mardi Gras, knowing how to pronounce Tchoupitoulas, the beauty and equal disgust of the French Quarter. Jazz Fest is fun, no doubt, but it's always hot. Always crowded. Always got some crazy ass mofos walking around. I've been before to Jazz Fest but only for headliners. Dave Matthews Band and Lenny Kravitz? I was all about that. Here's how that went...couldn't see in sea of thousands of people who didn't smell very good. I never was interested in seeing our local talents until now. I know, I know. This year I was fortunate enough to go and hopped from tent to tent with zero concern of any big names. I just went with it and relaxed. I'm even more surprised with my favorite tent. When I arrived in the gospel tent this very talented woman (Kim Che're) was bringing down the house. Everyone and I mean everyone was loving it. Gospel music! Who'd have thought that would have blown me way but it did. I suggest bringing a blanket, wearing a hat, comfortable shoes and sunscreen. Also. Bring cash for the pheasant, quail and andouille gumbo. Yum! -

There were a few things that happened last year to prompt me to update this review and give you that much deserved fifth star. 1. I ordered gifts online for Christmas. Not only were they opened and greeted by my recipients with pure and unabated joy, you shipped them overnight. For no extra charge. Hello awesomeness. :) I realize that I'm right across the lake and all, but that is customer service at its finest. 2. I received a few gifts from you. Can I just say the merchandise is top notch? I had no clue that the soap (because I like to use soap) or the kitchen essentials (because I like to cook) were so fantastic. And here I was only shopping for tee shirts in your store. Silly me. 3. I found out you call your employees "Fleurty (insert first name here"). Can I come work for you guys? Please. I think that is adorable and I now make my kids call me Fleurty Mommy. Ok. I don't really make them say that for fear of the therapy bills later, but seriously...I want to be called Fleurty Angie. That's just awesome. Fleurty Girl, you rock. I'm a fan and always will be. Angie的3星評語： A friend pointed out to me today that I was on review #69 prior to this one. I, of course, had already noticed this and snickered about it all day since I am apparently 14 years old. But I needed a quickie review to get my number to 70 so that all of you guys wouldn't think I was some sort of deranged pervert and since I've recently reviewed Mande's Bed Josh's Couch was an easy choice. This couch is legend I have heard. I've never actually seen or sat (or lay or have had any type of contact with said couch whatsoever) on it. Which is a good thing since I also hear it's ho approved. I can only conclude from this bit of info that: 1. I'm not a ho and 2. If I were a ho and wanted to hang out here I'd be calling Stanley Steamer prior to my hanging out on it. ;) Disclaimer: I'm pretty sure that Josh doesn't approve of hoes. And if you don't get sarcasm don't read my reviews. -
Angie的5星評語： Sometimes a simple lunch can be one of your fondest memories. This is my experience with Milk Bar. I was given the task of choosing a spot to eat in a certain neighborhood. Yelp, one again, saved the day. I found Milk Bar while searching lunch spots using the filter by neighborhood feature. I was skeptical at first because I thought the name of the place was strange and it's just a sandwich shop for goodness sakes. What's so great about a weirdly named sandwich joint? I'm here to tell you that there's plenty. It's on a beautiful street right near Touro Infirmary. There is parking on the street but there's also a huge (paid) parking lot across the street, which is where I parked. When you walk in it's nothing fancy. There's a counter with a menu...you walk right up and order what you'd like. No one will be seating you, you seat yourself and wait for your name to be called once your order is ready. There's a little self serve side bar with water and condiments and silverware. It's a very bare bones type of place so if you're feeling like you need to be waited on it's not happening here. The decor is what I can only describe as whimsical. It seems small when you first walk in, but the tables are spaced far enough apart that you don't feel like the other diners can overhear your conversation. It's just nice and whimsical and cozy. I ordered the Shrimply Delicious. It was beyond delicious!! And freaking huge! Gigantic, I'm telling you! Cut in half and I could barely finish one half. It was around 9 bucks and that's a bargain if all you're able to finish is one half in my opinion. 9 bucks for lunch and dinner later that night? Sold! Unfortunately my sandwich happened to be so wonderful that my friend stole the other half of it, but I didn't mind at all. It was one of the best lunch dates I've had in a while.

Angie的3星評語： Coming into Nola from Slidell this bridge is a necessary evil. I don't dislike this bridge at all, in fact I think the view of New Orleans from the top is really pretty. The problem is that it's very steep and for that reason people seem to forget WTF to do once they get to the top. So they all brake hard and stop. Because that makes sense, right?! That causes many accidents and I've seen several of them. One happened right in front of me not too long ago. It also means traffic is backed up on the bridge often. Once the descent down starts, people usually remember to start driving like they are actually licensed drivers and not, in fact, morons. Most of them, anyway. It's ok people. You're not going to fall off. Just drive at a steady pace so we can all get to where we are going. I've got a date with the Fleurty Girl store. Move it! -
Angie的4星評語： I love this bar. This is the bar where I watched the Saints win the playoff game that landed them a spot in the Superbowl. Because of that reason alone it's got a special place in my heart. It's also a place that tourists somehow steer clear of. I suppose that's because it's right across the street from Pat O's and they're all hanging out there instead. The thing I love the most about this bar? Two words. Bloody Mary. The first time I came here and was asked what I'd like to drink I asked the bartender how the Bloody Mary was here. He stopped wiping the counter down, put the towel down, bent down a little so that he was at my eye level and said with a mischievous glint in his eye (but total deadpan face), "They are fucking fantastic, sweetheart. I take my Bloody Mary very seriously." Ummm, yeah. SOLD. He then served me the best Bloody Mary I've had to date. And serious he was. I watched him make it (haha who am I kidding... there were multiple viewings of the crafting of this drink because I was drinking them as fast as he could make them and was then ordering another) and there was a definite art to it. All I know is there was Tabasco and Heinz Horseradish involved. And I seem to remember proclaiming my undying love for him. And possibly asking him if I could be the mother of his future children. If you love a great Bloody Mary you now know where to go. -
Angie的5星評語： Normally I wait to review a new place until I have been there a few times. Sometimes, though, if the experience blows me away, I do so right away. This, my friends, is the case with Coulis. Backstory-breakfast is my favorite meal. I can eat eggs over easy and bacon for every single meal every single day and be very, very happy doing so. Now that you know this about me let me also say that lately I have been to many breakfast spots in the fine city of Nola and mostly I've walked away saying "ehh". Don't get me wrong here...there are some great breakfast spots here...but I want to be BLOWN AWAY. And I haven't been. Until Coulis. This unassuming restaurant served me the best breakfast ever and has earned a lifelong customer (moi) here's why: Eggs over easy- just that. All too often I'll ask for my eggs over easy and get ummm....something else. Yolks hardened or whites undercooked. Hello? Eggs over easy means whites cooked all the way through and the yolks still soft and yummy and ready for some toast to be dipped in them and devoured. Am I right?! They do eggs over easy soooo good and soooo right here. Hash browns! Man. Coulis has the BEST hash browns EVER. I know that's a big claim but I stand behind it. They aren't chunks of potatoes and they aren't shredded potatoes. The hash browns here are thinly sliced potatoes with amazing and freaking delicious sautéed onions thrown in the mix as well as a sprinkling of green onions topping them. I'll pause so you can read that again. Yeah. They are fantastic. Service- my waitresses (yes that is plural) were the female versions of Cheech and Chong. I was waiting for one of them to say "yeahhhhh, man" when I asked for more napkins. They were efficient and friendly and totally New Orleans. I love it here and really can't wait to go back!

Angie的4星評語： It is hard for me to admit when I'm wrong, but I usually do. Most of the time. ;) I am here today to tell you that I was wrong. I told you to go to Surrey's and get the shrimp and grits. If shrimp and grits are your thing then you absolutely must order Surrey's version, because they were and still are, the best I've ever had. I decided to be a little adventurous on my last few visits and ordered something I normally wouldn't. The Crab Meat Omelette is quickly becoming my favorite thing on the menu here. Oh my god. A heavenly omelette stuffed with Brie cheese and avocado topped of with lump crab meat in a delicious sauce. It's soooooo very good. I could eat one everyday. I'm not even kidding. Yum. Go to Surrey's. Get the Crab Meat Omelette. Or the Shrimp and Grits. Better yet, get both. No...really. Get both. -

I can't listen to "Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans" without getting chills. Louis Armstrong Park is a wonderful tribute to a wonderful man. It's beautiful, peaceful and there are fantastic sculptures of him all throughout the park. There are lovely bridges and ponds. There are cute little ducks that are fun to feed. There are lots of shady areas to sit and have a picnic. Please make it a priority to visit this park. You won't regret it! -
Angie的5星評語： City Park is my favorite park. In the entire world. I have loved it all of my life. My grandmother used to take us here when we were kids to ride the carousel and play in Storyland. I have some amazing memories of playing and laughing with my sisters here and some amazing memories of my grandmother helping us feed the ducks. The beautiful oak trees are hundreds of years old and the best spot in the city to sit under and read a book. Or if exercising appeals more to you, there are miles and miles of trails to jog, walk or bike along. My favorite part of the park these days is the Botanical Garden. It is my little slice of heaven. A great place to clear your head in the midst of lovely roses, azaleas, palms, water lilies and camellias. City Park is wonderful and you should definitely visit it! Don't forget your camera!

Angie的5星評語： I didn't know until I started to write reviews on Yelp how much I loved bridges. I think many of them are stunningly beautiful. I think most of them are engineering marvels. Some are so high they scare the crap of out of me. And a couple of them I love strictly for sentimental reasons. The Twin Span Bridge (the old ones as well as the new one) is one of them. The other is the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway Bridge. I've crossed the Causeway many times. It does have a fantastic view of the lake. I often see pelicans while crossing it and although living in Louisiana where pelicans are everywhere, I still get excited when I see one. Yes, it's long. Really long. But there's something about it that's peaceful to me. I know the daily commuters would disagree with that peaceful part. Not too long ago I crossed the Causeway with a friend. Although we were having a great time and were headed out to have a fun time in Nola, our conversation wandered into a serious topic. That day I learned many things that I had never known and really "saw" my friend. When things like that happen (depending on what the topic is) I think you either think to yourself, "RUNNNNN!" or it strengthens the friendship. For me, it was the latter. The bond deepened on my end tenfold. For that alone, I will never cross the Causeway again without recalling the way I felt that day. -
Angie的4星評語： What happens when Al Copeland decides to open a fried chicken joint? A real New Orleans tradition is born. Popeyes Chicken is so very good. So are their mashed potatoes, red beans and rice, fries, onion rings and those biscuits. Oh my word those biscuits. Yummy! I love their strips as well as the traditional mixed fried pieces. Always spicy and delicious, a box of Popeyes fried chicken is the perfect thing to pick up to bring to a Mardi Gras parade. When they're in season you can also pick up some fried crawfish or shrimp. Sadly, Mr. Copeland is no longer with us but his legacy lives on through his delicious New Orleans cuisine that we continue to enjoy to this day. -
Angie的4星評語： I really like Yang's. When I get a hankering for a poboy I always want a fried shrimp poboy. That's my favorite. I was a little confused walking in as I walked through the back entrance and wasn't sure what to do when there was no one there to greet or seat me. Plus the place was completely empty. After a little detective work on my part, I realized where the counter was and the sweet lady behind it took my order and told me to sit wherever I wanted to and she'd bring it out to me. My fried shrimp poboy came out quickly and it was pretty good. My only complaint was that the shrimp hadn't been deveined. I guess it's a personal preference, but that sort of grosses me out when fried shrimp aren't deveined. The service was superb and the prices were decent. Overall, this is a solid choice if you're in the mood for a good poboy. -
Angie的4星評語： Lilette is a sexy restaurant. Although I came for lunch, it had a very romantic feel about it so it would be a great place to take a date. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. He gave great descriptions of the specials that weren't on the menu. I ended up ordering one of those specials...a salmon dish that was quite delicious. The space is small but a private conversation was not a problem. I'd recommend reservations because it was pretty packed even at lunchtime.

That's because Slice Pizzeria has a BBQ shrimp poboy that's out of this world delicious and has ruined me for all other BBQ shrimp poboys. This poboy should set the standard for all other BBQ shrimp poboys. It. Is. So. Good. So good, in fact, that I am doubtful that I'll ever order anything else here. It is garlicky and spicy and it also has lots of black pepper in it. You might want to check to make sure you're not walking around smiling like a fool at everyone with black pepper in your teeth like I did the first time I had it. Just go. Order the BBQ shrimp poboy. I have plans to go there this week. I'll bet you can guess what I'll be having. :) -
Angie的5星評語： I love seafood. All seafood...fish, shrimp, crabs, crawfish, shoot I even like alligator. The one exception to this has always been oysters. I never did enjoy them cooked anyway...fried, smoked, boiled or raw. Nope. No dice on the oysters. Until someone convinced me to try them at Drago's. The charbroiled oysters are one of the most delicious things I've ever had the pleasure of tasting. I was in heaven eating them and have been back several times since that first time to order them again and relive that first time I had them. Let's face it, if you were a hater of all things oysters and Drago's completely changed your life...err...mind about oysters, well then you've got to admit that they know what the heck they are doing and they do it damn well. For charbroiled oysters, Drago's is the best. There is no comparison. -
Angie的4星評語： Oh, Ruby Slipper, you had me at your name. I had high hopes for you before I even stepped inside based on the name of your restaurant alone. Thankfully, I was in for more great treats. The restaurant is in an old bank that's really cool and spacious. The service is impeccable and the food? Divine. We stopped in on our way to the aquarium. I had an iced coffee and a delicious sandwich called the Eggs Blackstone. Two poached eggs over bacon and grilled tomatoes on a biscuit with hollandaise sauce. Perfection. My daughter had the small stack of butter pecan pancakes, but let me just say there was nothing small about this small stack of pancakes. They were a big as the plate. No kidding. Cooked perfectly and quite delicious as well, we had to bring over half of them home to enjoy for later. If you haven't tried Ruby Slipper yet, you really should. I can't wait to go again! "Click your heels together three times and think to yourself, There's no place like home. There's no place like home." There's no place like New Orleans. -
Angie的4星評語： One of my favorite things about Christmas in New Orleans! I'll be honest, I'm a bit of a Scrooge around the holidays. I hate the crowds in the stores, I dispise the greed that seems to permeate the air and I always spend too much money. Bah humbug! A trip to the Celebration in the Oaks always puts me in a festive and significantly less grumpy mood. The lights are so pretty, the air is filled with Christmas music throughout the park, the giant tree made of poinsettias is lovely and the perfect backdrop for photos and I'm fascinated by the train village. I just can't help but start to get that warm feeling inside of my (Grinch) heart. No matter how old you are please take a ride on the beautiful carousel. You'll have a huge grin on your face that'll be hard to wipe off when you're done. Happy holidays! -
Angie的4星評語： I already miss Blue Plate Cafe even though they just closed about a month and a half ago. I liked the funny name and the whimsical decor. On the restrooms instead of signs that said "men" or "women" they had a Barbie doll on the ladies room and a Ken doll on the men's room. How cute is that?! The food was great and portions were huge and service was stellar. I read that the owner just got burnt out and closed down the restaurant for some much needed rest and relaxation. I hope that she's getting lots of that and am keeping my fingers crossed that she decides to open another great breakfast place in Nola one of these days. Rest in piece Blue Plate Cafe. You will be dearly missed. -
Angie的4星評語： This diner's name cracks me up. I was a little skeptical about eating here because of it, actually. Thank goodness I ignored my general hesitation and just went with it because it is great! Inside is what I can only think to describe as a "divey diner" because it's very dated and not very aesthetically pleasing. That really doesn't bother me as long as the food is good and the food here was great and the service is prompt and friendly. I had a fried shrimp poboy once and a ham and cheese omelette with hash browns and toast on another visit. The poboy was really good and was piled high with shrimp. The omelette was wonderful and again piled high with the fillings. The chef is very generous. Both were under $10. Awesome! Here's to you, Please U! You did, in fact, please me. :)
