What is the dress code?
A:
I did not see anything suggesting a dress code. My friend had on sneakers and I was dressed in jeans. There are mostly tourists and some people do dress up in period style clothing but your don't have to get dressy. It would hurt for a date night,… more

Last night at Rhum House was nothing short of magical, and much of that magic came courtesy of the amazing staff, particularly Cristiano and Eliza. From the moment I sat down, Cristiano, the bartender, was a cocktail wizard! After just one order, he skillfully tailored a series of drinks that perfectly suited my taste. It was like he could read my mind - each drink was a delightful surprise that left me eager for the next.
Not to be outdone, Eliza, our server, made our experience even more special. She was genuinely attentive, taking the time to engage in real conversation and getting to know us on a personal level. Her care and attention made us feel valued and welcomed.
Thanks to Cristiano's mixology prowess and Eliza's warm hospitality, my night at Rhum House was truly memorable. Whether you're a cocktail aficionado or just looking for a place where the staff makes you feel like family, Rhum House is the spot. Can't wait to return!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aliya Y.Brooklyn, Brooklyn, NY031Jul 23, 2024
Have to aware other patrons!
I am local and was a loyal regular customer to The Rum House. On my birthday, I decided to do a steak house dinner with my friends here in TSQ area and stop by for drinks and jazz at The Rums House. Meaning my party was 10 ppl, and I contacted GM named Kenneth in advance to ask if they can accommodate us 2 weeks in advance. Everything was agreed upon and confirmed.
So on the bday night when we arrived, to table for 10ppl were reserved, floor manager improvised from whatever avaliable. This place is tiny, so it was not comfortable for the server to flow - I explain her nasty attitude and being rude to my guests for that reason. A friend of mine was communicating to Bar tender Nick to get the drinks served since the server on the floor was not available. Miscommunication, tight space, loud bar ambiance, hot weather, or whatever bad day those 2 had - can't explain how rude and unacceptable service they provided.
It was clearly a racist attitude! Nick, the bar tender, wanted to kick my friend out of the bar by complaining to the security guard with no basis, by saying he is loud talking? Say what? Absolutely nasty business run.
One more highlight: requested tables agreement not followed, if party of 10ppl made the server unhappy, this is where you placed us. My friend treated $100 advance tip to take a good care of the vibes, top shelf drinks ordered, and fat tips left. Party behaved well besides of it is live music bar with loud music and fully packed. But hey, it is Time Square where all the world. Racist and personal attitude is not acceptable! Upset me on my birthday and offended my friends.
Shame on you! Never will step down there, and not recommend anyone!
Wrote the feed back to GM whom we agreed on reservation in advance- he said my friend ordering drinks was "taking advantage of his staff" that's not truth! He wished me good life - how epic it is. I was expecting an apologies for the spoiled experience, but no that snobbish wright offHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 13, 2024
Could have been 5 stars with
-more availability on snacks section of menu. (They were out of two things before even dinner time)
-more food options in general.
-better staffed behind bar. Little slow for my taste.
The atmosphere is great, location cool.
Clean / good staff / and nice service.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 2, 2024
Great piano bar, however you won't hear any keys until about 8:30p. Contrary to it's name, the bar has a great selection of spirits from beer, rum, whiskey, tequila and more. They also serve light snacks such as popcorn.
Lastly, the service was very welcoming.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 9015092351Jan 15, 2024Updated review
Always a fave place to stop with friends when home in NYC!
The Rum House in NYC offers a unique experience with its creative cocktails and lively atmosphere. This is where you come for live music! Nestled in the Edison Hotel, the intimate space, though small, exudes charm. The standing-room setup adds to the vibrant feel, complemented by fantastic live music. It's a gem for those seeking distinctive drinks and a memorable night out in the city that never sleeps ! Street parking is a challenge, but there are garages near by.Helpful 6Thanks 1Love this 5Oh no 0Aug 20, 2019Previous reviewCame for a pre- birthday celebration and loved it! Dimly lit, cozy atmosphere in the Edison hotel. Live CUBAN music, reminded me of Cuba! Lots of rum cocktails with creative bartenders who were friendly, confident and efficient. Was ale to score a seat and enjoy the music. People should put down they're phones and enjoy the music! We did!

The secret to Rum House is happy hour. Their drinks are like $18 normally but you can get a perfect mai tai for $10. Seriously good. And it is not crowded - you can get a table. Perfect cozy spot to hide out from midtown madness and catch up with a friend.

Convenient location right off of Times Square! The bar was pretty small and intimate but I came at 8:30 on a Tuesday and I was able to get a table right away. It probably started to get crowded around 9:30 when a bluegrass band started playing for Mardi Gras. I got a drink that was similar to an espresso martini but also had grapefruit in it? It tasted good which surprised me. The cocktail was $18 which seems reasonable especially given the location.

Rum House was such a delight. As busy and crowded that it was, the host quickly found us a table. The service throughout the entire stay was excellent.
Every drink was strong, well crafted, and nicely presented.
The bites, warm pretzels and olives, were delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed every bite and the mustard complemented the pretzels perfectly.
Do not hesitate to stop into The Rum House. You will be treated very well and enjoy a memorable time.Helpful 6Thanks 1Love this 7Oh no 3 - Thomas H.Indian Wells, CA0458183Mar 18, 2024
Total 5 star place. Stop in if in the area and you want a drink.
Classic small bar just off of Broadway. Very small and cozy.
Bartender was nice and gave me a few recommendations for sandwiches.
I don't come to NYC often, but have to stop in for a drink. Try the rum house manhattans. Made with El Dorado Rim from Guyana .Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 100343129Jan 4, 2024
Nice little spot near Times Square
We managed to visit The Rum House twice during our stay in NYC, both times around Happy Hour. We were seated promptly and told about the Happy Hour Specials. The Rum Punch was very good, as was the Daquiri, just know it's a traditional daquiri recipe and not a frozen monstrosity from Applebees. The ambiance is lovely, dark and warm, you feel like you're in an old Jazz club. The servers are well-dressed and friendly, and our drinks didn't take long to come out each time we ordered. We didn't get any bites so I can't review the food, but I very much enjoyed the Rum House and will likely return when next I am in the area and have a bit of time to kill, or just if I want a tasty beverage.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
