‘Across the Universe’
Fans of the Beatles rejoice for this musical film that, 15 years later, still holds a cult-like place in the universe of cinema. Starring Jim Sturgess (One Day, Cloud Atlas) and Evan Rachel Wood (Thirteen, TV’s Westworld, and the upcoming Weird: The Al Yankovic Story) as Jude and Lucy, respectively, Across the Universe sets these two characters on a magical, musical journey through the ’60s as they navigate the Vietnam War and their own coming-of-age in New York City. Including a colorful cast of characters named, naturally, Prudence, Jojo, Max, and Sadie, along with appearances by the late Joe Cocker, Bono, and Salma Hayek, this film is a cannot-miss adventure with your your favorite Beatles’ songs, all of which are performed with mystical illusions and fantastical animation styles. But viewer, be warned: you might struggle not to sing along.
