‘Adam Sandler: 100% Fresh’
Adam Sandler has never been what one would call a “critical darling,” but ever since his retreat from the multiplex —2015’s Pixels was the last theatrically-released film in which he appeared in front of the camera— audiences became even more dismissive of his talent. Diehard #Fandlers (of which there are many!) never lost faith in the Sandman, but 100% Fresh is reminding those lapsed fans just how hilarious Sandler can be. This stand-up special is a loose, endearingly shambolic, and highly musical affair, culled from Sandler’s recent tour. The material ranges from Migos-influenced rap songs (“Phone. Wallet. Keys”) to piano-driven ditties to an ’80s style power ballad about the late Chris Farley, a moment that is guaranteed to make SNL fans well up.
