‘Bad Times At The El Royale’
Do you miss “Quentin Tarantino” movies? By that, we don’t literally mean movies directed by Quentin Tarantino but, rather, the genre of movies that can best be described by using that genius auteur’s name. You know, those twisty / turn-y / multi-character / multi-timeline movies that popped up everywhere after Pulp Fiction shook Hollywood to its core in the mid-’90s? If so, then writer/director Drew Goddard’s Bad Times At The El Royale will scratch your itch. Starring Jeff Bridges, Chris Hemsworth, Jon Hamm, Dakota Johnson, and Cynthia Erivo, this film about a group of strangers who meet up at a very unique hotel on the California/Nevada border is admittedly a bit overstuffed, but earns major points for being a uniquely familiar movie-watching experience.
