‘Bel-Air’
Okay, Bel-Air’s premise is admittedly wild. An unflinching drama based on the beloved ’90s sitcom, wherein Carlton snorts Zanax, Geoffrey’s some kinda bodyguard/fixer for Uncle Phil, the “one little fight” that scared Will’s mom involved a gun and a violent criminal with a vendetta? Yeah, it’s a lot. But now that we’re halfway through the season, Bel-Air has proven itself to be an engrossing show in its own right; it’s a gripping family drama that — much like Fresh Prince before it — addresses a lot of today’s very real issues. Just, y’know, don’t expect any of those issues to be resolved by someone doing the Carlton.
