‘Bride of Frankenstein’
If you haven’t already, October is the perfect month to sign up for Peacock. Not only does the platform have a killer lineup of Halloween-themed sitcom episodes, but it has the entire Universal classic monsters lineup available to do your bidding. And of all these 1930s creature features, none holds up as frightfully well as Bride of Frankenstein—a rare sequel that outdoes the original. This is truly director James Whale’s crowning achievement, as he discovers creepy new camera angles, heightens the scientific horror, and infuses the film with an undeniably queer energy that still packs a charge today. Plus, it’s only 74 minutes long—which is about as long as some Netflix television episodes.
