‘Deep Blue Sea’
Summer is winding down, but there’s still time to slip in a shark movie before we officially pull on our sweaters and pack up our beach bags. Forget Jaws — what you really should be streaming is Deep Blue Sea, a cult classic that’s a true August must-watch. The campy gem follows a boatful of researchers running a lab of genetically engineered sharks who, you guessed it, turn on them in a spectacularly gory and horrifying fashion. With the 1999 thriller about to leave HBO Max, there’s no better time to sink your teeth into it. Maybe just wait a few hours after watching to go for a swim.
