‘Dharma and Greg’
The premise is a sitcom classic: she’s kooky and he’s uptight. That comedic conflict has provided laughs for shows stretching all the way back to I Love Lucy, so it would be easy to dismiss the late ’90s rom-sitcom Dharma and Greg as a knock-off. Hot tip: the premise is tired but the jokes are wired. Jenna Elfman and Thomas Gibson have crackling chemistry from Episode 1, and the show’s supporting cast is stacked with A+ archetypes like the freaky Jane, schlubby Pete, and Greg’s snooty mother Kitty (a proto-Lucille Bluth). Dharma and Greg is streaming on Hulu and it’s definitely worth revisiting.
