‘Dumb Money’
I’ll be the first to admit that I still have no idea what a “short squeeze” is, but I had a great time watching Dumb Money — a movie that is all about a short squeeze. Remember, way back in 2021, when a bunch of Reddit users bought GameStop stock and it led to some wild financial instabilities in a real David vs. Goliath moment (where Goliath a.k.a. a bunch of billionaires still kind of came out on top)? Dumb Money is a loose dramatization of those events from director Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya), with a starry ensemble cast — Paul Dano, Pete Davidson, America Ferrera, Seth Rogen, and Nick Offerman among them — who rarely actually cross paths due to the nature of the story. If you’re looking for a good time that doesn’t take up a long time, Dumb Money will deliver with plenty of laughs, solid performances all around, and an entertaining story all in just one hour and 45 minutes.
