‘Gods Of Egypt’
Let’s get something straight right off the bat. Gods Of Egypt is NOT a good movie. It’s pretty terrible, in fact … terribly AWESOME, that is! (And also just plain terrible, too.) So why am I recommending this batshit bonkers, $140MM, 2016 action/adventure epic about warring ancient Egyptian deities from director Alex Proyas (Dark City) then? It’s a fascinating collision of dazzling imagination and phoned-in hammy performances from the likes of Gerard Butler, Geoffrey Rush and Jamie Lannister from Game Of Thrones. Plus, watching the film will make listening to this episode of “How Did This Get Made?” that much of a richer experience.
