‘Grand Army’
Set in a Brooklyn high school at the start of 2020, Grand Army is a gripping look at the tumult of modern-day adolescence. The gritty series follows five students in particular — gregarious and outspoken Joey (Odessa A’zion), pragmatic, yet idealistic Dom (Odley Jean), seemingly perfect boy Sid (Amir Bageria), brilliant saxophonist Jay (Maliq Johnson), and the self-absorbed and self-destructive Leila (Amalia Yoo) — as they navigate the challenges of being a teen. Like Euphoria and 13 Reasons Why, Grand Army deals with the darker side of growing up today. There’s terrorism, sexual assault, theft, poverty, and harassment. But in Grand Army, there’s also a sliver of hope. If you can find it.
