‘Happy Death Day’
Horror aficionados have come to recognize that the low budget, high impact chillers released under the Blumhouse banner —think Insidious, think The Purge, think Paranormal Activity— provide the most reliable scares in the biz. Enter Happy Death Day, which takes many of the tropes commonly found in sorority girl slashers and puts them through the Groundhog Day blender. Three things stand-out: 1) A fab leading lady performance by Jessica Rothe 2) The killer wears a great mask 3) The movie is PG-13, but no less scary for not being rated R.
