‘Hoop Dreams’
March is a time for March Madness, and spring is a time for hope… so it seems like the first week of spring is a fine time to revisit Hoop Dreams. The 1994 documentary classic follows two inner city Chicago basketball prodigies who endure 90 minute commutes to attend and play at a suburban prep school that birthed stars like Isiah Thomas. Hoop Dreams won a slew of awards, including Best Documentary at Sundance, and remains a mainstay of best sports docs lists.
