‘Hooper’
Burt Reynolds and stuntman-turned-filmmaker Hal Needham enjoyed one of the most fruitful Hollywood partnerships of the ’70s/’80s with Hooper being the most autobiographical product of their collaboration. The film features Reynolds as Sonny Hooper, a wildly successful stunt coordinator/stuntman nearing the end of his career. Feeling threatened by young upstart stuntman “Ski” (Jan-Michael Vincent), Hooper agrees to a potentially career (and life!) ending stunt which forces him to re-evaluate everything, including his relationship with his girlfriend Gwen (a radiant Sally Field). With jaw-dropping stunts, wild hijinks and charm to spare, Hooper is an underrated late ‘70s classic.
