Ken Burns’ typically Ken Burns take on this most American of musical forms first aired on PBS in 2001. The ten-part series traces jazz music from the turn of the 20th century through to the turn of 21st, and features commentary from musician Wynton Marsalis, critic Stanley Crouch, and historian Gerald Early among others. Narrated by Keith David, Jazz spans a century of talent, from Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong, and Duke Ellington to Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, and Cecil Taylor.
